Himalayan Terrains began with a simple artistic endeavor by our CEO Sanjaya Upadhyay that began decades ago: how to make the best looking, artistic lamps possible? With the rise of 3D printing technology, he experimented with various designs and materials until Luminous Peaks and the painted terrains products were born.
What began as a simple artistic endeavor has grown into a full-fledged business with a team of enginers, builders, painters in the shadow of the ranges we recreate.
And now, we are proud to be able to customize and tailor our products to any terrain in the world, including our standard range of Himalayan terrains.
Using satellite data to carve out the terrain in the 3D form exactly, viewable through augmented reality as well, we bolster the terrain with a lamp so the terrain can shine on your desk, living room, or anywhere else you want!
Our team of wood-workers in Kathmandu create a polished base product made out of pristine Nepali wood, with trekking routes engraved onto them wherever possible. For the painted terrains, we work with local Nepali painters who add a touch of radiance and elegance to the terrain in circular and square formats, as per your liking.
Our workshop is located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal. Our business supports local artisans and craftsmen, and we are proud to be able to offer a range of products that are made in Nepal, by Nepali hands. We think it is beautiful that somethign created so far away can still be appreciated by others elsewhere.
Simply put: it is beautiful. There is something about this area of the world; we believe that there's a story worth sharing here, and it all begins with the Himalayas.
Compared to normal, everyday table lamps, our products offer something else. Home decor done right. Something perfectly functional, in fact, offering more features than normal, while providing that extra touch of beauty, wherever you place them.
A father's vision, a son's drive, and the family that supports them. We believe in the product and have the confidence that it will offer our customers what we think it offers to us.

We started by 3D printing many things, including prosthetic limbs for amputees, before the work narrowed to the mountains.
Creating terrain videos of our signature mountains in Nepal: here, Mount Everest from the same digital masters.
One peak, one printer, the question of whether a terrain could feel right in the hand.
The same satellite masters, hand-painted for the shelf, room decor from the peaks we already modelled for lamps.
The future line: the same terrains as canvas wall art, Machapuchare in relief, made to hang.
Open the 3D Explorer, or go straight to the lamps and painted terrains made from the same masters.
